Pee pee in the potty! Pee pee in the potty! September 18, 2009

hh01534_We had a huge day at my house yesterday, HUGE! I am not sure when the perma grin will be gone from my face. And I have the song from Look Who’s Talking 2 in my head. When they are singing pee pee in the potty song to Mikey. I picked up my son from school and his teacher said he peed twice in the potty. I couldn’t believe my ears. I am pretty sure I asked her three times “really?”. I couldn’t comprehend what she was saying. I just couldn’t believe it. I still can’t believe it.

My son is non-verbal so potty training has been at the bottom of my list, nowhere on my radar. We have some many other things I felt took priority over this. Everyone who asks I just say we aren’t worried we will deal with it when he is ready. He has too many other things on his plate and we aren’t going to push the issue. We did buy the “Cars” movie toilet seat so at least he knew we had it. And a couple times he was interested to just sit on it. But we really left it up to him.

It was actually the aide who thought what the hell and just brought him over to the toilet when it was bathroom time for kids. And low and behold a miracle, he peed. He then did it again at the next bathroom time. Finally the third time at our house before bath time and we got to see for ourselves. Stunned. I couldn’t be a more proud mommy. This has made my year. I have absolutely no idea if he is going to do it again today but I know he can do it and it gives me yet another piece of hope for him. Another milestone a year ago seemed like it was never going to happen. Oh and I called everyone I knew to share the pee pee news.
